This project was a completed during Lockdown One as we abandoned studio space and access to university. I left my sculptural pieces and began working with the space of a huge empty grain store. The cavernous space echoed the isolation felt during lockdown as we were separated from family and friends. The overarching feeling of detachment and isolation was magnified by the sound of the roller door clattering shut. Sitting in the dark space I listened to the amplified bird sound outside and was captivated by a beam of natural sunlight that burst through the roof in the late afternoon. I recorded the sound and used the natural light to film my body and some seeds for the years harvest. I was able to project the edited video back into the space with a borrowed projector. The isolation and acoustics of the space amplified the sense of isolation and the natural light reignited connection to the world outside with its intensity and effect on the objects it touched. Final project was video, sound and photography.
